Quick Visa Choices for Spontaneous Travel

Atlys released a list of international destinations offering fast, predictable visa processes for Indian travellers planning short-notice or spontaneous holidays. With the year-end season approaching, quick e-visas, visa-on-arrival options, ETAs and Digital Arrival Cards are influencing destination choices.

According to Atlys, simplified visa procedures reduce uncertainty for last-minute travel. When combined with direct air links from Indian cities and manageable flight durations, these destinations position themselves well for travellers seeking short breaks without lengthy planning.

Easy-to-Get Visa Destinations for Last-Minute Plans:
Atlys has shared examples of destinations that provide fast visa access suitable for spontaneous trips:

  • Indonesia (Bali) – e-visa (two to three hours): Suitable for beach stays, café culture, nightlife and wellness retreats.
  • Thailand – DAC (one to two hours): Works well for short breaks with beaches, shopping and food options.
  • Sri Lanka – ETA (one to two days) / visa-on-arrival: Combines beaches, tea country and heritage sites.
  • United Arab Emirates (Dubai) – e-visa (two to three days): Popular for shopping, theme parks and short family holidays.
  • Jordan – e-visa (two to three days): Appeals to history and culture-focused travellers.
  • Malaysia – DAC (two to three hours): Offers a mix of city experiences, rainforests and beaches.
  • Morocco – e-visa (five to six days): Known for desert experiences, souks and medinas.
  • Kenya – e-visa (two to three days): Favoured for wildlife holidays and nature itineraries.
  • Ethiopia – e-visa (one to two days) / visa-on-arrival in many cases: Suitable for culture and heritage-led travel.
  • Vietnam – e-visa (four to five days): Offers beaches, food culture and city experiences.

Trends on the Atlys platform indicate growing demand for such destinations. In 2025, e-visas accounted for 82 per cent of all visa applications from India, up from 79 per cent in 2024. Sri Lanka saw a significant increase, with applications rising nearly seven times year-on-year.

Santosh Hegde, Head of Marketing at Atlys, said, “Indian travellers increasingly value clarity, speed, and certainty in the visa process, especially when planning last-minute holidays. Atlys is built to deliver that reliability, with guided flows, upfront visibility on processing timelines, and a smooth digital experience end to end. As more destinations simplify their visa procedures, we’re helping travellers turn spontaneous plans into enjoyable, stress-free international trips.”

Atlys notes that visa convenience now plays a role similar to budget, weather and hotel availability when choosing destinations. Those offering quick, digital-first processes and strong connectivity from India are likely to continue growing in popularity. The platform aims to support this behaviour by providing travellers with a single place to explore easy-visa destinations, understand requirements and apply through a simplified process.

Visa processing timelines are based on data from the Atlys platform and are approximate. Actual durations may vary depending on individual cases and decisions by embassies or immigration authorities.
