Creativity-led Stays for Families and Travellers

Across global destinations, creativity is emerging as a core part of the travel experience. Travellers are moving towards slower, more expressive journeys, learning local craft forms and engaging with cultures through hands-on activities. For Children’s Day, these stays also shift family travel towards meaningful participation, where younger generation learns through simple, tactile experiences.

JOALI Maldives – Raa Atoll, Maldives

JOALI Maldives, located in the Raa Atoll, is recognised as the country’s first art-immersive luxury resort. The island features more than sixty installations and interactive works created in collaboration with international artists and Maldivian artisans.
The “Kids of JOALI” programme introduces younger guests to Maldivian culture through language sessions, local dance, palm-leaf weaving and coral-related learning. Children can also join “Junior Chef” cooking activities or seasonal craft workshops during festivals.
At the Art Studio, resident artists lead daily sessions in painting, mixed media and nature-led crafts. As JOALI Maldives marks its seventh year, the resort continues to position creativity at the heart of its approach to mindful travel.

Brij Hotels – Goa and Rajasthan, India

At Brij Hotels, creativity is integrated into the guest experience across several locations.
At Brij Paraiso in Goa, guests work with chefs to blend Goan spices such as Xacuti and Recheado or participate in simple pizza-making sessions.
At Brij Bageecha in Rajasthan, guests can explore clay work through pottery or engage in tie-dye and block printing.
Lac bangle-making and local craft activities provide insight into Rajasthani traditions. These hands-on sessions allow travellers to create something to take back with them and connect with regional practices.

Kuda Villingili Maldives – North Malé Atoll, Maldives

At Kuda Villingili Maldives in the North Malé Atoll, the Kuda Fiyo Island Playground offers daily activities for children aged four to twelve. Sessions range from coconut painting, palm-leaf origami and cookie decorating to scavenger trails, mocktail mixing and dance-based movement.
The programme runs from 9 AM to 6 PM and offers a full rotation of craft-led and outdoor activities. Each day introduces new options, making the space a productive and engaging stop for younger travellers.

Cape Weligama – Southern Province, Sri Lanka

Cape Weligama, on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, features the Forest School, set amid coastal greenery. Guided by naturalists, young guests explore through simple storytelling, basic craft, climbing and foraging.
Activities include raft-building with fallen branches and sketching leaves or natural patterns. The Forest School operates as an outdoor classroom where nature drives learning and curiosity.

Alila Jabal Akhdar – Al Hajar Mountains, Oman

Alila Jabal Akhdar, positioned within Oman’s Al Hajar mountain range, brings together nature and wellness through the Spa Kitchen.
Here, the team guides participants in preparing their own skincare items using local ingredients. Activities include distilling rosewater and creating frankincense scrubs and honey-based masks, rooted in longstanding regional practices.
The sessions introduce travellers to traditional methods while allowing them to create products unique to Jabal Akhdar.
