Bang at The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore is set to host BARC Kathmandu, ranked #35 in Asia’s Best, for an exclusive bar takeover on 17 October, marking the Nepalese bar’s long‑anticipated debut in India. Presented by All Things Nice, this will be BARC’s first takeover in India, bringing a fresh, bold, and never‑before‑seen cocktail programme to Bangalore, but only for one day.
Founded in 2021 by cocktail visionaries Abhishek Tuladhar and Adarsha Man Tamrakar, BARC has quickly risen to global prominence. Ranked #35 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025 and winner of the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award 2025, the bar, based in the heart of Kathmandu, is celebrated for weaving storytelling, craft, and culture into an unforgettable beverage experience. Now, for the very first time, Bengaluru’s cocktail enthusiasts can experience this phenomenon up close.
Abhishek Tuladhar, Co‑founder of BARC, shared his excitement about the debut, “BARC was built on the idea that a cocktail is more than a drink—it’s a story waiting to be told. Every recipe we craft carries a piece of Nepal’s culture and spirit. To bring this experience to Bengaluru, a city known for its youthful energy, is truly exciting. We are bringing a journey that begins with familiar flavours but takes them somewhere entirely unexpected.”
A Taste of Kathmandu – Reinvented for Bengaluru
BARC is renowned for reimagining traditional Nepali and Newari flavours with modern flair. Each drink is a journey, from nostalgic tastes to refined, sophisticated blends for the discerning palate. The exclusive five‑cocktail menu for the evening is a liquid narrative of Nepal’s rich terroir and modern mixology. Guests will be introduced to BARC’s signature Bloody Nepali, a bold concoction that delivers a tangy, sweet‑sour‑spicy kick using a house‑made Titaura (hog plum) mix with vodka.
The journey into tradition continues with the Ayla Sour, which features a spiced version of the traditional Newari spirit, Ayla, in a sophisticated whisky‑based sour, and the Khattu Highball, an earthy and complex drink combining Nepali liquorice with tequila and Campari. Bridging the gap between the classic and contemporary are the Ilam Tea Highball, an aromatic blend of Ilam black tea and jasmine kombucha with white rum, and the inventive Mosambi Caffine, a zesty fusion of coffee‑infused gin, local sweet lime, and bright Yuzu.
An Evening of Firsts
The forthcoming takeover is a highlight in The Ritz‑Carlton, Bangalore’s ongoing commitment to bringing world‑class culinary and cultural experiences to the city. For Bengaluru’s community of food and beverage lovers, this collaboration is not just another event—it’s an invitation to be part of something that brings cultures together.
Reuben Kataria, General Manager at The Ritz‑Carlton, Bangalore, adds, “Hosting BARC is not just about a takeover—it’s about introducing Bengaluru to a celebrated cocktail culture that the world is already talking about. It’s a chance for our guests to taste something unique, innovative, and absolutely worth the hype.”
