Kona Kona, Mumbai, is making history with a flavour-packed Seafood Boil Pop-Up on September 7, a collaboration between Mona Singh’s neighbourhood bar and Soul Food’s Legendary Seafood Boil by Aashish Seth.

Aashish Seth, a pioneer of Mumbai’s seafood boils, brings the tenth edition of his much-loved concept to Kona Kona. Following successful pop-ups at Mag St Kitchen and beyond, Soul Food has built a loyal following for hearty, flavour-packed seafood experiences that celebrate both community and indulgence.

“I have consistently admired KonaKona, so when Mona floated the idea of hosting a pop-up here, I immediately accepted. I wanted to create something outstanding and introduce new flavours for them and the seafood connoisseurs attending,” saysSeth.

This edition will showcase five exclusive flavour profiles, including a Thai herbed sauce specially curated for Mona Singh and Konakona, alongside Soul Food signatures like Singapore Pepper and Sichuan, the OG Old Bay seasoning, and the classic lemon garlic butter chilli. To complete the experience, specially crafted Don Julio tequila cocktail pairings will be served, designed to heighten the bold, soulful flavours of the seafood.

Guided by a philosophy of simplicity and authenticity, Aashish has carved a distinct space in Mumbai’s food scene. “I only serve what I myself would eat, and I believe simplicity is the highest form of elegance,” he says. His affinity for seafood, especially mud crabs, began years ago with regular visits to Gajalee for their iconic tandoori crab, inspiring him to dedicate himself to creating unique seafood and meat experiences.

Konakona has always been about storytelling through flavours and nostalgia. Hosting this seafoodboil with Aashish feels like the perfect extension of our vision, creating food memories that bring people together,” says Mona Singh, Founder of Konakona.

The pop-up offers an indulgent selection of seafood buckets designed for groups of two, three, or four, each brimming with fresh mud crabs, black tiger prawns, jumbo prawns, calamari, mussels, corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, spicy buttered rice, and Konakona’s special bread, paired with a choice of two sauces—from bold Singapore Pepper and Sichuan to Old Bay, Lemon Garlic Butter Chilli, or a brand-new Thai Herbed sauce created just for this menu. Prices begin at Rs 9,999 for two and rise to ₹19,999 for four, with each bucket accompanied by unlimited craft beers from Igloo, wines from Grover’s Art, and special Don Julio offers, including cocktails and bottles at exclusive rates. For those looking to go all out, The Emperor’s Table (Rs 39,999 for 6–8 guests) promises a grand feast of XL or XXL crabs, jumbo or red tiger prawns, lobsters, calamari, mussels, and all the trimmings, paired with free-flowing beer, wine, cocktails, and mocktails—making it the ultimate communal seafood experience.

With fresh seafood, bold flavours, handcrafted cocktails, and Konakona’s warm neighbourhood charm, this pop-up promises to be one of the season’s most exciting dining experiences.
