Mi Piaci has recently opened its doors in Ambawatta One, Mehrauli, with a view of the Qutub Minar. Mi piaci tells a story of elegance, history, and atmosphere all on its own. Helmed by Priyank Sukhija and Lorenzo Lanzoni with the support of Nitin Shekhawat and Harsh Rathore, Mi piaci is as authentic as one can imagine it to be.
The entire team is Italian. Chef Mattia has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants across Italy. Silvia, the manager, comes from top restaurants in Milan. The pizza chef has travelled across Europe, bringing with him technique and passion. (Chef Mattia, trained at ALMA under Gualtiero Marchesi, has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants and five-star hotels across Europe. Silvia, manager, brings experience from Remulass and Cipriani in Milan, and the pizza chef was part of one of Europe’s most respected artisanal pizza chains (Meno Male). They’ve all moved to Delhi to be part of this journey—because at Mi piaci, there’s room to build something truly special. It promises a slow, immersive dining experience that brings the best of Italy to the heart of Delhi. As soon as you walk in, the first thing you see is fresh pasta taking shape before your eyes.

The journey of Mi piaci started back in Italy, where Lanzoni met his Indian friend Rathore at University in Bologna. Rathore, born in India but raised in Italy, went to India with the intent to visit family. Lanzoni shared with happiness and excitement, “It all started with a trip. Rathore, born in India but raised in Italy since he was a child, hadn’t been back in years. He invited me to come with him to visit his family. Very quickly, I fell in love with this incredible country. There was something about the energy, the culture, the people—it just felt right. With three restaurants already running successfully in Italy, the idea came naturally, why not try building something here too? India is a unique land of diversity, I got simply attracted to the colours, variety and versatility of India and we got Mi piaci to India in our minds at that very moment.”
He added, “We partnered with Shekhawat, brother to my Indian Italian partner Rahtore and opened a small pizzeria in a shared location between Gurugram and Faridabad. From day one, our goal was to bring real Italian cuisine to India. The response was incredible. People loved the food, both in person and online. But the space didn’t feel like home. It was too far from the centre, and we couldn’t fully express ourselves the way we wanted. That’s when we were contacted by Sukhija. With his experience in hospitality and deep knowledge of Delhi’s food scene, we joined forces and found the perfect new home: a stunning space in Ambawatta One, Mehrauli, right in front of the Qutub Minar.”

Sukhija, a foodie in his every vein, when he met Lanzoni, quickly decided to give wings to Mi piaci. Sukhija added, “Italian cuisine is a cuisine which you can enjoy at every moment of the day. It is like the first preference of every Indian when you travel outside or when you want to explore a new cuisine- It is always Italian. An opportunity to bring the Italian culinary journey on gourmet forefront and It's surely exciting. A foodie in me is very sure that our customers will accept Mi piaci with all their heart and stomach.”
