Cricket legend Yuvraj Singh celebrated the 18th anniversary of his iconic six sixes in an over with a special celebration at KOCA, his signature rooftop restaurant at Golf Avenue 42, Sector 42, Gurugram. The milestone, one of cricket’s most memorable moments, was commemorated with an evening of music and nostalgia.
Yuvraj Singh made history by becoming the first player in T20I cricket to hit six sixes in a single over on September 19, 2007. The then 25-year-old left‑handed batsman’s feat came against England’s Stuart Broad, who, unfortunately, bore the brunt of the assault. A verbal exchange with Andrew Flintoff earlier in the match had fired Yuvraj up, and what followed was a masterclass in power hitting. The score leapt from 171/3 after 18 overs to 207/3 after just one over, utterly changing the complexion of the game.
Each of the six deliveries cleared the boundary, thrilling fans and cricket enthusiasts alike. After the first three sixes, spectators were astonished, but as the fourth and fifth cleared the ropes, the prospect of six sixes became real. By the final ball, everyone watching, save the visiting team, was hoping Yuvraj would send it over the boundary, and he did, sealing an unforgettable moment in cricketing history.
