Superstar Mahesh Babu, his wife and former Miss India Namrata Shirodkar, and their daughter Sitara Ghattamaneni checked into Cape Weligama for a family getaway to celebrate Sitara’s birthday at one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic luxury resorts, perched dramatically atop the southern coastline.

Cape Weligama, a Relais & Châteaux property within the Resplendent Ceylon collection, has long been synonymous with its crescent-shaped pool overlooking the vast blue expanse of the Indian Ocean. The holiday was a group affair, with Sitara joined by close friends and family. The party enjoyed the resort’s private Cove Beach, played Uno, savoured delectable meals, and embraced the relaxed pace of the island.

The celebrations were imbued with warmth from shared meals and rounds of pool to hours of laughter in the resort’s cosy corners. The resort’s location on one of Sri Lanka’s most striking coastlines was complemented by a significant refurbishment in December 2024. Guests can now relish innovative culinary offerings, updated family suites, and an all-new Forest School Kids Club, where children engage with nature through clay modelling, paint-making, crafting bug hotels, and learning about local ecosystems.

The Ghattamanenis’ choice of Sri Lanka reflects their appreciation for meaningful travel experiences rooted in calm, nature, and connection. Beyond the resort, the family explored the coastal beauty and vibrant traditions of southern Sri Lanka. Cape Weligama sits just 15 minutes from Weligama town and a short drive from the historic Galle Fort, blending privacy with convenient access to rich cultural experiences.
