Resplendent Ceylon

Resplendent Ceylon has celebrated its 20th anniversary, coinciding with 40 years of Dilmah Tea, established by Merrill J Fernando. These two enduring legacies embody a shared commitment to excellence, purpose, and pride in Sri Lankan heritage. Since launching Ceylon Tea Trails in 2005, the world’s first tea bungalow resort on a working estate and Sri Lanka’s first Relais & Châteaux property, Resplendent Ceylon has continually elevated the standards of luxury travel across the island. Its portfolio now includes Cape Weligama and the Wild Coast Tented Lodge, forming a distinctive “tea, sea and safari” circuit.

In December 2024, Cape Weligama unveiled a refreshed look, anchored by the new Cove Beach Club, delivering curated coastal dining and elevated beachside experiences along the southern coast’s premium offerings.

To honour this historic milestone, Resplendent Ceylon introduces a limited-edition “Tea, Sea & Safari” 20th Anniversary Journey. This exclusive 10-night package offers an immersive experience across all three resorts: Ceylon Tea Trails, Wild Coast Tented Lodge, and Cape Weligama, on a Fully Inclusive basis. Highlights include a private tea tasting hosted by the Resident Planter at Dunkeld Estate, a helicopter transfer to the Elephant Transit Home with Malik J Fernando, a full-day safari, and a culinary adventure along the Southern Riviera. Guests will also receive bespoke memorabilia, including a limited-edition painting, an engraved anniversary badge, a personalised Dilmah tea collection, and signed copies of three iconic books. Celebrating two decades of purposeful luxury, this journey is a tribute to Sri Lanka’s rich heritage, storytelling, and breathtaking natural beauty.

Looking to the future, Malik J Fernando, Chairman and Managing DirectorofResplendentCeylonand sonofDilmah’s founder, shared, “SriLankais a small island with immense richness—ofculture, landscapes, and people. Tourism has the power to not only sustain our economy, but also to share our story with the world. AtResplendentCeylon, our focus is on meaningful growth. With upcoming properties like Canopy Lodge in Sigirya and Kelburne Estate in the hills, we’re committed to expanding our footprint thoughtfully, while keeping purpose, community, and authenticity at the heart of all we do.”

Guided by the Dilmah philosophy of business as a form of human service, Resplendent Ceylon embeds local collaboration, environmental responsibility, and social upliftment into its operations, ensuring that travel is as enriching for guests as it is empowering for Sri Lanka.

As it celebrates two decades of excellence, Resplendent Ceylon looks forward with a clear vision: to continue elevating Sri Lanka’s reputation as a destination of substance, sustainability, and soul.
