In response to the escalating geopolitical situation in Iran and the closure of its airspace, Air India has announced the diversion and return of multiple international flights to ensure the safety of its passengers and crew.

Several long-haul flights operating between India and destinations in Europe and North America were affected. Among them, AI130 (London Heathrow–Mumbai) was diverted to Vienna, while AI102 (New York–Delhi) landed in Sharjah. Other affected routes include AI116 (New York–Mumbai), diverted to Jeddah, and AI101 (Delhi–New York), now headed to Frankfurt or Milan.

Flights en route to India, such as AI104 (Washington–Delhi), AI190 (Toronto–Delhi), and AI132 (London Heathrow–Bengaluru), have also been rerouted to alternate airports. Departing flights like AI129 (Mumbai–London) and AI103 (Delhi–Washington) were instructed to return to their points of origin.

In total, more than a dozen Air India flights have been impacted, with passengers facing unexpected delays and stopovers. The airline has stated that it is making every effort to minimise disruption, including offering hotel accommodation, full refunds for cancellations, and complimentary rescheduling for those affected.

“We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers due to this unforeseen disruption and are making every effort to minimise it,” Air India said in an official statement.

The airline is arranging alternate travel options for passengers and has urged all flyers to stay updated through their official flight status portal.

As the situation in Iranian airspace continues to unfold, Air India remains in close coordination with global aviation authorities to ensure passenger safety and resume normal operations at the earliest opportunity.

Additionally, the operations at the Delhi Airport continue to run smoothly. However, due to evolving airspace conditions over Iran, Iraq and the neighbouring region, some flight schedules have been impacted. In an advisory, the Delhi International Airport Limited advised the passengers to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding their flights. It also urged the passengers to rely on official sources for accurate and up-to-date information
