Akasa Air celebrates its third successful year of operations, marked by remarkable growth since its inception. Starting with its inaugural flight between Mumbai and Ahmedabad on August 7, 2022, Akasa has rapidly established itself as a formidable force in Indian aviation, driven by a bold vision to redefine air travel through reliability, empathy, and service excellence.
In just three years, Akasa Air has transported over 19 million passengers, with an additional eight million in the past 12 months alone, maintaining industry-leading load factors exceeding 87 per cent, demonstrating the increasing trust of travellers across India and beyond.
Operational Excellence
Akasa Air has achieved several key milestones, reflecting its disciplined, precision-oriented growth strategy. Crossing 100,000 total departures—including over 3,800 international flights—the airline has expanded its operations swiftly and sustainably, maintaining the lowest cancellation rates and leading on-time performance within Indian aviation. It has transported more than 131,000 tonnes of cargo, swiftly establishing itself as a vital player in India’s logistics ecosystem. With over 1,150 corporate partners, Akasa is quickly becoming the carrier of choice for business travellers.
These milestones highlight Akasa’s operational prowess and its ability to consistently deliver value across passenger, cargo, and enterprise segments, laying the groundwork for a globally competitive airline built on trust and performance.
Financial Resilience and Discipline
Akasa’s growth has been matched by prudent financial management. In FY 2025, the airline recorded a 49% year-on-year increase in revenue, driven by disciplined expansion and rising unit profitability. Capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometres (ASKs), grew by an impressive 48 per cent compared to FY24. The airline has also secured agreements with prominent investors for a new capital infusion, subject to regulatory approvals. This investment will strengthen Akasa’s balance sheet and provide the financial stability needed to accelerate its long-term growth plans, ensuring resilience in a dynamic market.
Akasa’s strategic focus on cost leadership, network optimisation, and cautious expansion positions it well for sustainable profitability.
A Growing Network for Today and Tomorrow
The airline has expanded its fleet to 30 aircraft, serving 28 destinations — including 23 domestic and five international airports. This carefully planned network reflects its long-term vision, with recent steps such as the activation of its first codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways in March 2025, reinforcing its international ambitions.
Prioritising Employee Wellbeing
Since its launch, Akasa has fostered a culture rooted in inclusion, empowerment, and pride. As India’s first airline to introduce gender-neutral uniforms and performance sneakers in 2022, it has consistently led with progressive policies aligned with a modern, mobile workforce. In its third year, the airline has furthered its commitment by designing travel gear tailored for crew comfort and high-performance footwear suited to aviation roles. These initiatives are about more than symbolism; they are strategic investments in employee wellbeing. By empowering its people, Akasa reinforces its belief that exceptional service starts with happy, supported staff. This people-first approach remains central to its identity and future success.
Customer Service at the Heart
From the outset, Akasa has set new standards in Indian air travel with innovative, customer-focused offerings. Its Café Akasa has served over 6.4 million meals, featuring gourmet in-flight dining, including healthy options, festive meals, and industry-first beverages like Kombucha. Its pet travel service, Pets on Akasa, has flown more than 7,100 animals across the network. The airline’s fleet offers generous legroom, greater comfort, and USB ports, while over 25 ancillary products—such as Akasa GetEarly, Seat & Meal Deals, Extra Seats, and Akasa Holidays—allow passengers to personalise their journey.
Innovative features like SkyScore, SkyLights, QuietFlights, and Braille menus and safety cards for visually impaired passengers further exemplify Akasa’s commitment to inclusivity and thoughtful service.
Looking Ahead
As India’s aviation sector enters a new era of growth, Akasa Air will continue to lead with purpose, scalability, and foresight. The airline plans to expand its presence in key markets such as Delhi and to leverage new airports, including Navi Mumbai and Noida International Airports, to broaden its network. Its global footprint will grow with expansion into new regions, including SAARC and ASEAN countries, over the coming years. The fleet is expected to reach over 30 aircraft by year's end, with capacity—in terms of ASK—projected to grow by over 30 per cent in the current financial year, underpinning further upward momentum in Revenue per Available Seat Kilometre (RASK). With robust financial health, a resilient culture, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, Akasa is poised to be a leader for generations to come.
