The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department has launched a two-day Tourism Tech AI 2.0 Conclave in Vijayawada, aiming to attract substantial private investments in the tourism industry.
On the first day, expert panels discussed vital aspects driving tourism growth, including the creative economy, product and project development, investment opportunities, capacity building, branding and communication, and technological advancements. Renowned professionals and stakeholders from various tourism sectors, along with investors from leading national and international brands, participated in six strategic discussions. These covered topics such as global branding of Andhra Pradesh, harnessing AI and digital tools for smart tourism, creating new attractions and experiences, fostering infrastructure through investment partnerships, upskilling for service excellence, and promoting arts and culture to support livelihoods.
In the inaugural session, Amrapali Kata, MD of AP Tourism Development Corporation and CEO of AP Tourism Authority, announced ongoing plans to sign nearly 80 MoUs with key investors. This initiative aims to revolutionise tourism infrastructure across the state.
Kata revealed that the department is aiming to secure investment commitments worth Rs 10,140 crore during the conclave. These investments are expected to create approximately 22,325 direct and indirect jobs for young people over the next four years and boost hotel capacity with around 7,439 new rooms—significantly advancing Andhra Pradesh's goal to become a premier tourism destination in India. The MoUs, involving stakeholders from homestays, cruises, adventure tourism, and water sports, will be signed in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the event’s second day.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister will unveil key strategic tools, including dashboards, a strategy document, a coffee table book, and promotional videos, underlining the state’s commitment to establishing itself as a global tourism hub.
During a recent discussion, Ajay Jain, Special Chief Secretary for Housing and Tourism, and Head of APTDC, called on the Bureau of Energy Efficiency and AP State Energy Conservation Mission to provide technical support. His goal is to make Andhra Pradesh the most energy-efficient tourism state in the country.
Jain emphasised that integrating energy-efficient infrastructure and large-scale electric vehicle deployments will help realise the Chief Minister’s vision for sustainable and inclusive tourism. With strong partnerships, climate-smart policies, and strategic incentives, Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as a model for the next generation of tourism—responsive to environmental needs and globally competitive.
