Bryan Batista, CEO, Skyscanner
Skyscanner, a leading global travel platform, has announced the appointment of Bryan Batista as its new Chief Executive Officer. He will officially step into the role on 1st June 2025, succeeding outgoing CEO John Mangelaars.
Batista is currently serving as Skyscanner’s Chief Operating Officer, a position he took on in January 2024. He brings with him a strong background in the travel and tech industries, having previously held senior roles at Tesla and as CEO of Rentalcars.com and SVP of Trips at Booking.com.
Skyscanner connects over 160 million users across 180 countries and 37 languages with more than 1,200 partners in flights, hotels, and car hire. It has recently expanded into rail and package holidays in selected markets. The platform now searches 100 billion prices daily, helping users find the best travel deals with ease.
Departing CEO John Mangelaars shares: “After four and a half incredible years, I am stepping down as CEO and passing the baton to Bryan. The company is in a great position, and I feel that now is the right time for me personally to make this change and pursue new ventures. I have enormous confidence in Bryan’s leadership and determination to take Skyscanner forward in the next stage of its ambitious growth.”
Incoming CEO Bryan Batista commented, “We built Skyscanner because we are travel geeks at heart. We love the thrill of exploring new places and we hate the pain of planning. Since joining Skyscanner, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with our incredible teams and travel partners. Stepping into this role is a dream. I get to lead a company that is on a mission to become the world’s number one travel ally. I am excited that we are now adding rail and package travel options to that mix - delivering the best deals and the widest selection of travel options to our travellers. We are breaking into new markets, adding new products and smarter tools to make travel planning part of the adventure, not the admin.”
Over the past year, Skyscanner recorded double-digit growth in all key travel categories, including flights, car hire, and accommodation. The company also made significant progress in high-growth markets, especially India, where it plans to double its audience.
Batista has already played a key role in shaping Skyscanner’s long-term strategy and is expected to continue leading its global expansion and innovation in the online travel space.
