Capella Hotels and Resorts is set to make its debut in Europe with the opening of Capella Florence in 2027. Situated in the heart of Florence’s historic and cultural centre, near the Piazza della Libertà and the Duomo, this stunning redevelopment of a longstanding complex of former convents continues the brand’s thoughtful expansion into global destinations.
The project, skillfully reimagined by renowned Italian architects RPA and De Vita & Schulze, features sophisticated interiors by French design house Liaigre. Capella Florence will revitalise one of the city's most significant and historically layered sites.
Originating in the 12th century, the location has housed the convents of Sant’Agata, San Clemente and Santa Lucia di Camporeggi; welcomed talented artists like Arcangela Paladini; and served as a military hospital.
Blending carefully restored heritage with visionary architecture, the 89-key hotel will celebrate eight centuries of artistic heritage alongside bespoke luxury and timeless elegance. Guests can enjoy two refined restaurants offering local Tuscan cuisine and Japanese sushi omakase, a rooftop bar, a subterranean speakeasy wine cellar, and Capella’s signature Living Room.
A separate Clubhouse will house a 600 sqm Capella Spa with hydro pool, a fitness centre, and café, while an indoor amphitheatre will pay tribute to the site’s 800-year history of creativity and cultural exchange, enhanced by Capella’s curated hospitality.
Alongside 33 suites and 56 guestrooms, Capella Florence will feature 10 exclusive residences, combining classical and modern styles with their own entrance. Building on its success across Asia and the Pacific, the brand’s European debut in Florence reaffirms its commitment to thoughtfully expanding into culturally rich cities worldwide.
