Cathay Unveils Simpler and More Rewarding Membership Programme

Cathay has announced the evolution of its membership programme, introducing a range of enhancements that make earning and enjoying rewards smoother, simpler, and better for its Green, Silver, Gold, and Diamond members.

Set to take effect on January 1 2027, with a transition period beginning January 1 2026, the updated programme offers members a faster path to progression, greater flexibility, and elevated recognition across all tiers. The revamp reflects Cathay’s ongoing commitment to enriching its members’ journeys with exclusive travel and lifestyle privileges.

By simplifying the path to higher status and providing greater flexibility for members in new ways, members can look forward to progressing with greater ease and enjoying a more rewarding journey that truly elevates their lives,” said Vivian Lo, Director Customer Lifestyle, Cathay.

Under the new framework, Status Points will no longer reset to zero upon upgrading, allowing members to earn multiple status upgrades within a single year and making the journey up the status ladder seamless.

The membership cycle will now be standardised from January 1 to December 31, each year, replacing the previous rolling system. This uniformity provides members with a consistent timeline to plan travel, track progress, and enjoy benefits with greater clarity.

Cathay has introduced Status Points rollover for Gold members and above. Up to 50% of excess Status Points can be carried over to the following year, giving members a stronger head start in maintaining or advancing their tier.

A brand-new elite status, Diamond Exec, has also been launched for members earning at least 2,400 Status Points within a single year. The tier offers a dedicated Relationship Manager and a range of bespoke privileges, designed to deliver a highly personalised and elevated travel experience.

Complimentary Diamond Membership Year

Long-standing loyalty will now be rewarded with complimentary Diamond membership years. Members who have held any Diamond status for at least five cumulative years can earn an additional complimentary year for every 6,000 Status Points accumulated over their lifetime, with no expiry date or cap. This feature provides the flexibility to claim Diamond benefits during lower travel periods.
