Chiva-SomHua Hin and Zulal Wellness Resort byChiva-SomobservedInternationalDayfor the ConservationoftheMangroveEcosystem on 26 July 2025withcoordinatedmangroveplanting initiatives in Thailand and Qatar. The tworesortsplanted a combined totalof700mangrovetrees, reinforcing their commitment to environmental conservation and coastal ecosystem restoration.
At Hua Hin, the team fromChiva-Somplanted 500mangrovetrees at the Krailart NiwateMangroveEcosystem Preservation Project, located a short distance from the resort. The event was joined byFriendsofChiva-SomZaheerKhan, a former memberofIndia’s 2011 World Cup-winning cricket team, andSagarikaGhatge, an Indian actor and model. The Hua Hin initiative forms partofan ongoing programme that has seen the plantingofmore than 12,500mangrovetrees since 2013, alongside the creationofa 1,000-metre elevated boardwalk to encourage community access and engagement.
At Zulal Wellness Resort in Al Ruwais, Qatar, participants planted 200mangroveseedlings along the resort’sMangroveDeck, which overlooks the country’s northern coastal habitats. The planting was joined by FriendofChiva-Somand Wellness Icon 2025MariamFarid, a Qatari athlete recognised for her environmental advocacy. The session included discussions on the cultural and ecological importanceofQatar’s nativemangroves, which provide critical habitats for marine species and migratory birds.
Both events were partoftheFriendsofChiva-Sominitiative, which seeks to unite wellness, environmental stewardship and community involvement. By aligning these effortswithits broader sustainability strategy,Chiva-Somcontinues to promote an integrated approach to personal wellbeing and ecological responsibility across its properties in Thailand and the Middle East.
