Chiva-Som Hua Hin and Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som observed International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem on 26 July 2025 with coordinated mangrove planting initiatives in Thailand and Qatar. The two resorts planted a combined total of 700 mangrove trees, reinforcing their commitment to environmental conservation and coastal ecosystem restoration.

At Hua Hin, the team from Chiva-Som planted 500 mangrove trees at the Krailart Niwate Mangrove Ecosystem Preservation Project, located a short distance from the resort. The event was joined by Friends of Chiva-Som Zaheer Khan, a former member of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning cricket team, and Sagarika Ghatge, an Indian actor and model. The Hua Hin initiative forms part of an ongoing programme that has seen the planting of more than 12,500 mangrove trees since 2013, alongside the creation of a 1,000-metre elevated boardwalk to encourage community access and engagement.

At Zulal Wellness Resort in Al Ruwais, Qatar, participants planted 200 mangrove seedlings along the resort’s Mangrove Deck, which overlooks the country’s northern coastal habitats. The planting was joined by Friend of Chiva-Som and Wellness Icon 2025 Mariam Farid, a Qatari athlete recognised for her environmental advocacy. The session included discussions on the cultural and ecological importance of Qatar’s native mangroves, which provide critical habitats for marine species and migratory birds.

Both events were part of the Friends of Chiva-Som initiative, which seeks to unite wellness, environmental stewardship and community involvement. By aligning these efforts with its broader sustainability strategy, Chiva-Som continues to promote an integrated approach to personal wellbeing and ecological responsibility across its properties in Thailand and the Middle East.
