Showcasing Colombo as South Asia’s emerging business and lifestyle hub

Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams, Sri Lanka’s integrated resort and lifestyle hub, has completed its first post-launch roadshow across India, covering Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. The initiative marks a key step in strengthening tourism and MICE partnerships between India and Sri Lanka.

Led by Sanjiv Hulugalle, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Cinnamon Life, and Padmi Fernando, Director of Sales and Marketing, the roadshow brought together leading Indian corporates, travel partners, and event planners. The sessions highlighted Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams as a new benchmark for MICE and lifestyle experiences in South Asia. They underlined Colombo’s growing position as a regional centre for business and leisure.

India continues to be a major contributor to Sri Lanka’s tourism sector, accounting for over 50 per cent of total arrivals at Cinnamon Life since its opening. The property has hosted several prominent Indian corporates for large-scale MICE events, including Bajaj, Aditya Birla, Lenovo, and UltraTech Cement, with conferences scheduled for November with over 1,500 delegates.

In addition, four destination weddings from India are set to take place at Cinnamon Life before the end of the year, reinforcing its appeal as a preferred venue for celebrations and gatherings.

The rise in MICE activity reflects a broader tourism trend. Indian arrivals have grown consistently, with 49,697 visitors in September (31.3 per cent share), 46,473 in August (23.4 per cent), and 37,128 in July (18.5 per cent), maintaining India’s position as Sri Lanka’s leading source market.

Situated in the heart of Colombo, Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams features over 160,000 square feet of event space, five grand ballrooms, and three outdoor venues overlooking Lake Beira, the city skyline, and the Indian Ocean. Combining technology, hospitality, and location, the property is driving Colombo’s evolution into a global destination for business events and leisure experiences.

Looking ahead, Colombo is expected to host major international conventions in 2026, attracting more than 3,000 global delegates and further strengthening Cinnamon Life’s position as a key player in South Asia’s MICE landscape.

Sanjiv Hulugalle said, “India has always been a close partner to Sri Lanka, and at Cinnamon Life, we’re proud to be the bridge connecting the two through business, travel, and celebration. Our vision is to position Colombo as a global stage for events – one that rivals the world’s leading MICE destinations.”

With its architecture, retail, entertainment, and hospitality offerings, Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams continues to reflect Sri Lanka’s transformation into a modern, world-class destination.
