A Bold Step Towards Affordable and Predictable Air Travel
Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu, inaugurated Fare Se Fursat, a landmark initiative by India’s government-owned regional carrier, Alliance Air. Designed to free passengers from the uncertainty of fluctuating airfares, the scheme aims to make air travel more transparent and stress-free. The launch event, held in New Delhi, was attended by Secretary of Civil Aviation Samir Kumar Sinha, Chairman of Alliance Air Amit Kumar, and CEO Rajarshi Sen.
Under the new initiative, Alliance Air will offer passengers a single, fixed fare that remains constant regardless of the booking date, even on the day of departure. Implemented on a pilot basis from 13 October to 31 December 2025 across select routes, the scheme will help evaluate its operational feasibility and passenger response.
At the launch, Minister Rammohan Naidu said, “The ‘Fare Se Fursat’ scheme perfectly aligns with the core principles of the UDAN scheme. Today, Alliance Air is carrying forward Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of democratising aviation and making it affordable for the middle class, lower-middle class and neo-middle class.”
He emphasised that the static fare model removes the unpredictability of dynamic pricing, providing passengers with clarity and confidence when booking flights. “Since taking charge of the Ministry, my focus has been on making aviation more people-oriented. Inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision under UDAN, we have launched Udan Yatri Cafes offering tea for ₹10, coffee for ₹20 and snacks for ₹20 at airports. It is making air travel more dignified and affordable. Now we are taking a step further and addressing the major concern of passengers, which is the airfare,” he added.
Rammohan Naidu described Alliance Air as the backbone of the Government’s Regional Connectivity Scheme, UDAN, highlighting the regional carrier's crucial role in India's aviation ecosystem. “Alliance Air has taken a bold and exemplary step with the idea of One Route, One Fare. It is truly ‘Naye Bharat ki Udaan’ — thinking beyond profitability and keeping the focus on public service,” he said.
India’s aviation market primarily operates on a dynamic pricing system, where airfares fluctuate based on demand, season, and competition. While efficient for airlines, this model often frustrates passengers with unpredictable last-minute fares. Fare Se Fursat addresses this challenge by introducing stability and transparency in ticket pricing, which is particularly beneficial for last-minute and first-time flyers.
The initiative is also expected to encourage more travellers from smaller towns to take to the skies, reinforcing Prime Minister Modi’s vision of making air travel accessible, affordable, and inclusive for every Indian. Alliance Air continues strengthening last-mile air connectivity under the Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) mission, making flying a reality for all citizens.
