From October 25, 2026, travellers will have the chance to set sail on new international routes as Cordelia Cruises launches itineraries from Kochi to the Maldives and Sri Lanka. It marks the first time Indian holidaymakers can cruise directly to Malé and Colombo, opening up fresh ways to explore the Indian Ocean.

Kochi will serve as the new homeport for Empress, the flagship of Cordelia Cruises. Guests will be able to choose between two itineraries. The first is a five-night journey departing every Sunday, sailing from Kochi to Malé and Colombo before returning on Friday. With two full days at sea, it allows guests to enjoy the best of the ship’s entertainment, dining and relaxation. For those looking for a shorter break, a two-night weekend sailing departs every Friday and returns on Sunday, offering a quick escape packed with dining, live shows and leisure at sea.

“Our vision has always been to make world-class cruising accessible to Indians,” said Jurgen Bailom, President & CEO, Cordelia Cruises. “The redeployment of Empress to Kochi and the launch of international itineraries to Sri Lanka and the Maldives mark a historic step in that direction. This expansion is not just about new routes; it is about allowing Indian travellers to experience the best of the Indian Ocean while enjoying the warmth of Indian hospitality onboard.”

Life onboard promises more than 50 experiences, ranging from family-friendly activities to international cuisine and stage performances. Beyond the ship, curated shore excursions highlight the beauty of each destination. In the Maldives, travellers can expect lagoon swims, dolphin spotting and coral reef explorations. In Sri Lanka, excursions feature historic forts, bustling markets, sacred landmarks and palm-fringed beaches.

With bookings now open, these new sailings from Kochi make it easier for Indian travellers to combine the excitement of cruising with the magic of the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
