Mediterranean Touch Marks Annual Cake Mixing Ritual

Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan marked the start of the festive season with a Mediterranean-inspired Cake Mixing Ceremony. The annual ritual was presented as a community-centred celebration focused on togetherness and seasonal traditions.

Guests, corporate partners, and team members participated in the ceremony, which featured long banquet tables arranged with dry fruits, candied peels, nuts, and selected spirits. The Mediterranean element was reflected through figs, dates, apricots, prunes, pistachios, almonds, and lemon zest, ingredients that symbolise prosperity and shared celebration.

The mixture prepared during the event will be fermented over the coming weeks before being used to create plum cakes and other Christmas treats. These items will be available at MoMo Café, the hotel’s bakery outlet, through the festive period.

The ceremony was led by Jitendra Thakur, Director of Food and Beverage, who guided guests through the traditional steps, including stirring the mixture clockwise and sharing wishes for the year ahead. Thakur highlighted the significance of gratitude and community in the festive season.

A floating dining set-up over the pool served as a visual feature of the evening. Guests also experienced a Mediterranean-style culinary showcase, live music, and a flair bartending performance.
