In a significant step for India’s growing influence in global tourism, Dr P. B. Boss, Chairman of the Osaka Group, has been appointed Honorary Tourism Commissioner – India to the European Union, under the India-EU Trade Council. The appointment, marked at a ceremony in New Delhi, was attended by international dignitaries and senior government representatives, including H.E. Amraram Gurjar, Incoming High Commissioner of India to Malawi, and H.E. Leonard Mengezi, High Commissioner of Malawi to India.
With over three decades of expertise in the travel industry, Dr Boss has led the Osaka Group to establish a presence across tourism, education, real estate, and digital platforms. Central to this transformation is OsakaConnect.com, described as the world’s first travel hypermarket and super app, offering 24 products on one platform for travellers, agents, and corporates. With operations across 18 Indian cities and 9 global hubs, the platform aims to redefine how travel is booked and marketed.
Dr Boss’s vision aligns with the digital shift driving the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He highlights the need to transition tourism from offline to online, creating opportunities for countries to present both local and international attractions on a unified digital stage.
In his remarks, Dr. Boss expressed deep gratitude for the appointment, stating:
"This prestigious role is not just a personal milestone, but a bridge of friendship and opportunity between India, Europe, and the world, fostering cultural exchange, tourism innovation, and global collaboration."
In his new role, Dr Boss will work to strengthen tourism ties between India and the EU while championing sustainable growth, digital adoption, and greater opportunities for entrepreneurs. His mandate also includes fostering cross-border cultural exchange and creating a more inclusive, technology-led global tourism ecosystem.
