Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Sun has kick-started its 2025 summer cruise season in Alaska, marking an exciting final chapter with the brand before its upcoming move to India’s Cordelia Cruises in 2027.
The ship recently embarked on a 15-night voyage from Honolulu, passing through stunning destinations such as Sitka, Haines, Icy Strait Point, and Ketchikan, before arriving in Vancouver on June 20, 2025. This marks the beginning of a busy schedule of cruises taking passengers across the Pacific to explore some of the world’s most breathtaking locations — including Hawaii, French Polynesia, the South Pacific, Australia, and Japan.
Throughout the summer, Norwegian Sun will offer a series of round-trip seven-night Alaska cruises from Vancouver. Guests can look forward to exploring Ketchikan’s historic streets, marvelling at glaciers near Juneau, hiking the trails of Icy Strait Point, and experiencing the unique Russian-influenced heritage of Sitka. These immersive journeys showcase the region’s natural beauty, indigenous cultures, and rich wildlife.
After completing its Alaska season in late July, the ship will head back to Hawaii for a series of longer cruises, ranging from 13 to 14 nights, across the South Pacific. Departing from Honolulu, the ship will stop in Papeete (Tahiti), Lautoka (Fiji), and visit islands such as Moorea, Kona, Pago Pago (American Samoa), Apia (Samoa), and the stunning island of Dravuni in Fiji. Expect volcanic landscapes, white sandy beaches, and vibrant island cultures on these exotic escapes.
Come August, the Norwegian Sun will begin a new adventure down under, with an itinerary heading towards Australia. While specific details are still being finalised, this voyage provides a rare opportunity to explore the Pacific between North America and Oceania on a single journey.
In October, the ship will return briefly to Alaska for one last season before a trans-Pacific repositioning to Japan. Arriving in early November 2025, Norwegian Sun will then embark on itineraries throughout East and Southeast Asia, including stops in Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
This Asian deployment will serve as a prelude to the ship’s final transition. After its summer seasons with Norwegian Cruise Line in 2026 and 2027, Norwegian Sun will move to India’s fast-growing cruise market under the new banner of Cordelia Cruises.
This marks an exciting milestone for Cordelia, which launched in late 2021 with the Empress — formerly a Royal Caribbean vessel. The addition of Norwegian Sun, soon to be renamed Cordelia Sun, alongside its sister ship Norwegian Sky, signals a bold expansion into India’s cruise industry. These ships will enable Cordelia to offer multi-day itineraries from major Indian ports like Mumbai, Kochi, and Goa.
The arrival of Norwegian Sun reflects rising interest in cruise holidays across India, with more Indian travellers seeking luxury and adventure close to home. Cordelia Cruises has already established itself as a pioneer in India’s cruise scene, offering curated routes that appeal to families, couples, and explorers alike.
