From June 23, 2025, the "Safe Return" scheme for outbound flights from Israel has come into effect for all individuals currently in the country, including Israeli citizens and tourists.

Those wishing to depart Israel by air should contact Israeli airlines directly—El Al, Arkia, Israir, and Air Haifa—which have received approval to operate under this scheme. Currently, each outbound flight is limited to 50 passengers, part of security measures designed to minimise both the number of travellers and waiting times at the airport.

It is also possible to leave Israel by sea, with tickets purchasable through recognised shipping companies. Additionally, travellers can exit via land crossings to Jordan and Egypt, and from there continue with international flights.

Land Crossing Details:

  • Taba crossing to Egypt (Begin) – open 24 hours
  • Jordan River crossing (Sheikh Hussein) near Beit She’an – 18:00–08:30
  • Yitzhak Rabin crossing (Arava) to Jordan near Eilat – 06:30–23:00
  • Allenby crossing (King Hussein) to Jordan near Jericho – 17:00–08:00 (Note: Not open to Israeli passport holders)

Please check the operating hours of land crossings on the Israel Airports Authority website:https://www.iaa.gov.il/

Information for passengers departing from Ben Gurion Airport:

  • Arrive at least two hours prior to your flight, but not earlier
  • Flights operate solely from Terminal 3
  • Entry is limited to passengers only (escorts for children and assisted travellers are permitted)
  • Access to the terminal is through Gate 2 (lower level)
  • Security checks and check-in will take place on the ground floor, with transfer to Floor 3 afterwards
  • It is recommended to arrive via public transport; private vehicle drivers are advised to quickly drop off passengers at the "Hug and Go" area

Please note, this advice does not constitute a recommendation for any specific exit route from Israel.
