The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, has encouraged local taxi operators to join state-supported digital taxi platforms such as the Goa Taxi App and GoaMiles. This aims to promote smarter mobility, economic inclusion, and a secure, transparent transport service for visitors.

Launched to boost reliable and safe transport, the Goa Taxi App offers a unified, government-regulated system that ensures fair pricing and efficiency. Since its inception at Manohar International Airport in January 2023 and expansion to Margao Railway Station in October 2023, it has helped improve transport across the region.

Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, stated, “The Goa Taxi App is not just a convenience tool — it represents a larger shift toward inclusive growth, safer commuting, and a more structured tourism experience. We urge all Goan taxi brothers to come onboard and make use of this free, government-supported platform that is designed especially to benefit them. It is not only about convenience for tourists but about creating more sustainable livelihood opportunities for our local communities.”

Alongside this, GoaMiles, managed by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) since 2018, remains a trusted app-based service helping position Goa as an affordable and responsible destination. Both apps have facilitated over 70,000 rides and onboarded more than 1,000 drivers, all operating at regulated, tourist-friendly fares. They also promote fair pay and quality service through digital ratings and live monitoring.

The Department of Tourism remains dedicated to developing an inclusive, modern tourism ecosystem where technology benefits everyone — from local drivers to international visitors. As Goa continues to innovate and commit to sustainable tourism, regulated taxi services will be a key element in supporting positive travel experiences.
