The highly anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) will host its official inauguration ceremony on November 1, 2025, with world leaders, dignitaries, government and cultural representatives, and distinguished guests expected to attend. The museum will then open its doors to the public on November 4, 2025.
Ahead of the grand opening, the GEM Complex has been offering limited access to test site readiness and visitor experience, a phase that will continue until October 14, 2025. Currently, visitors can access the Main Galleries, Grand Hall, Grand Staircase, commercial areas, and exterior gardens, while the Tutankhamun galleries and Khufu’s Boats Museum remain closed until the official launch.
The Grand Egyptian Museum has been over two decades in the making, with an investment of more than $1 billion. Once fully open, it will stand as the largest archaeological museum in the world, showcasing over 50,000 artefacts, including the entire treasure collection of King Tutankhamun’s tomb.
The opening marks a milestone in Egypt’s cultural and tourism landscape, positioning the GEM as a global hub for heritage, archaeology, and immersive visitor experiences.
