In a move for Indian tourism, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced the proposal to establish India’s first-ever Disneyland theme park in Manesar, near Gurgaon. Spread across 500 acres, this mega entertainment destination is expected to attract millions of domestic and international tourists, boosting Haryana’s economy and global image.
Unveiled yesterday, the plan is aligned with Haryana’s vision of becoming an international tourism hub. The park will be strategically located along the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, with excellent connectivity to Delhi, Jaipur, and Chandigarh, supported by the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor. Its proximity to the Delhi International Airport ensures easy access for global travellers.
On the proposed Disneyland in Manesar, Gurgaon Ravi Gosain, President, IATO said, "This is one of the best news which I have heard ever since I entered the tourism sector. This does not just have the potential to change the complete profile of Haryana but the entire country. Thousands of Indians travel to Disneyland abroad, that will stop. Besides, we will draw a huge number of tourists from abroad. From the Foreign Tourist Arrival perspective, it will act like a gamechanger. Hong Kong, Singapore alone attract millions of tourists because of the Disneyland. This will help us compete with them and combined with heritage and natural beauty, this will truly put India on the World Tourism map. Besides, thousands of jobs would be created, and it will bring economic boom for the entire sector".
The proposed Disneyland is expected to generate thousands of jobs in hospitality, construction, retail, and tourism. Local businesses, from small vendors to large service providers, will benefit from the rise in demand for accommodation, restaurants, shopping, and transport. The park is also expected to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) from global brands and investors in entertainment and hospitality.
In addition to thrill rides and entertainment, the Disneyland in Haryana will focus on sustainable development, with features such as renewable energy, water conservation, and eco-friendly infrastructure. The park is also expected to reflect India’s rich cultural heritage, integrating Indian festivals like Diwali and Holi, folklore, and mythology into the Disney storytelling format.
Rajiv Mehra, General Secretary, Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism and Hospitality( FAITH), said, "The proposed Disneyland in Manesar would not just be a game changer for tourism and Hospitality industry in Haryana but would also significantly alter the tourism landscape for the country. It would not be an exaggeration to say that this is the best news in decades for tourism in the country. Where it will help us draw foreign tourists, our own domestic tourism would receive huge fillip. This in turn create demand for Hotels, restaurants and all in all that will create thousands of jobs. As General Secretary FAITH I whole heartedly welcome this announcement and hope government will keep surprising us with such positive moves in future as well".
The initiative forms part of a broader tourism strategy, which includes expanding cultural festivals such as the Surajkund Crafts Mela, and launching more book fairs, Diwali events, and art festivals to showcase Haryana’s culture.
More than just an amusement park, this project marks a bold step in cultural diplomacy and tourism innovation. Haryana’s Disneyland will not only provide world-class entertainment but also position the state as a modern, family-friendly destination, ready to welcome the world.
With this proposal, Haryana sets a new benchmark for tourism in India — combining global appeal, local identity, and sustainable innovation in one iconic destination.
