Heavy rainfall has once again swept through the Delhi-NCR region, bringing with it waterlogging and the potential for significant travel disruptions. The sudden downpour has impacted daily life and prompted authorities and airlines to issue travel advisories to help travellers plan ahead. These weather conditions highlight the ongoing challenges posed by the monsoon season in northern India.
Weather Update
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted heavy rain across most areas of Delhi, with a generally cloudy sky, light to moderate rain, and thunderstorms expected in some regions. The rain is predicted to persist in Delhi until at least August 3, with similar conditions likely in neighbouring states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
Airline Advisory
In response to the persistent downpour, several airlines, including Air India and IndiGo, have issued advisories warning passengers of possible delays and slower traffic around airports. IndiGo shared on X: “With heavy rainfall expected in Delhi, delays and slower traffic to and from the airport are possible. Please check your flight status and allow extra time for your journey. We’ll keep you updated and are here to assist.”
Air India also warned that gusty winds and rain could affect flight operations to and from Delhi on Tuesday morning.
