Kerala, Goa And Rajasthan Among India’s Most Welcoming Places

Booking.com announced its 14th annual Traveller Review Awards, featuring the 10 Most Welcoming Places in India and the World, with Himachal Pradesh included on the list. The awards, based on over 370 million verified traveller reviews, recognise hospitality partners who consistently deliver exceptional service.

Globally, a record 1.81 million partners, including accommodation providers, rental car companies, and airport transfer suppliers are being honoured this year, marking a five per cent increase from 2025. In India, 17,575 travel partners received the 2026 Traveller Review Awards, up from 15,674 last year, highlighting the country’s growing reputation for welcoming hospitality.

Italy continues to lead for the ninth consecutive year with 214,666 award-winning partners, followed by France and Spain. Germany and the United Kingdom round out the top five. 

2026’s Most Welcoming Places on Earth

Himachal Pradesh has emerged as one of the Most Welcoming Regions on Earth this year,  joining a diverse selection of incredible destinations across the globe recognised for their exceptional hospitality. Celebrated for its unique blend of breathtaking Himalayan landscapes and a deeply ingrained spirit of hospitality, the "Land of the Gods" continues to leave a lasting impression on the travel community. From cozy mountain homestays to luxury retreats, the region’s hospitality partners consistently go above and beyond, ensuring travellers experience the genuine warmth and local character that defines Himachal Pradesh.

Other destinations which made it to the list are Hidalgo in Mexico, Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada, Navarra in Spain, Idaho in the United States, Himachal Pradesh in India, Sachsen in Germany, Phang Nga in Thailand, Overijssel in the Netherlands, Epirus in Greece, and Chiriqui in Panama.

Meanwhile, the list of the most welcoming cities includes Montepulciano in Italy (appearing twice), Magong in Taiwan (also appearing twice), San Martin de los Andes in Argentina, Harrogate in the UK, Fredericksburg in the USA, Pirenopolis in Brazil, Swakopmund in Namibia, and Takayama in Japan.

Most Welcoming Places in India for 2026

In India, the Most Welcoming Places list showcases a diverse array of destinations from around the country. Spanning hill stations, coastlines, deserts and backwaters, these regions and cities reflect India’s diverse travel experiences, united by a shared spirit of heartfelt hospitality that continues to leave a lasting impression on travellers.

Notable mentions include Bir and McLeod Ganj in Himachal Pradesh, Mararikulam in Kerala, Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, Mukteswar and Bhim Tal in Uttarakhand, Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, Manali in Himachal Pradesh, Hampi in Karnataka, and Mandrem in Goa.
