The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) convened an energising full-day "Brainstorming Session" for active members at Le Méridien, New Delhi, on July 16, 2025, held in a hybrid format.

Ravi Gosain, President of IATO, expressed his delight at the exceptional turnout, with approximately 140 active members participating from across the country. The event's extensive pan-India representation and deep engagement made it one of the most meaningful sessions in recent times.

During the session, members shared valuable insights on the hurdles hindering the growth of inbound tourism to India. Key discussions centred on "Working Together to Strengthen Inbound Tourism" through collaboration with relevant ministries, including Tourism, Civil Aviation, External Affairs, Home Affairs, and Road Transport and Shipping. The importance of building stronger relationships with partners such as hotels, airlines, transport providers, airports, and guides was also emphasised.

Participants highlighted an acute shortage of trained and skilled personnel within the tourism sector. There is significant potential to create new jobs for the younger generation, including those in rural areas. Increased tourism growth is seen as a vital driver of economic development and foreign exchange earnings.

Gosain further mentioned that the meeting was focused and collaborative, aimed at addressing current industry challenges. A preliminary document with recommendations will be prepared, with the goal of presenting a unified industry voice to relevant ministries, including the Prime Minister's Office.
