IATO Delegation Meets Manipur Governor
A delegation from the Indian Association of Tour Operators met the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at Raj Bhavan to discuss issues affecting tourism development in the state and to identify areas for collaboration that could support Manipur’s visibility in global markets.
The delegation was led by Ravi Gosain, President of the Indian Association of Tour Operators, joined by Rajiv Mehra, Immediate Past President, Radhakrishna Sharma, State In-charge for Manipur, and E. B. Blah, State In-charge for Meghalaya.
During the meeting, the delegation informed the Governor of key issues raised by tour operators and other stakeholders. These included restrictions and procedures linked to the Protected Area Permit system, which continue to deter international visitors, gaps in air connectivity, and infrastructure limitations that affect access and movement within the state. The team also highlighted the need for a planned approach to tourism promotion in overseas markets to position Manipur as a competitive destination.
The Indian Association of Tour Operators indicated its support for tourism growth in the state, including the requirement for simpler permit procedures, improved connectivity and engagement in international travel marts.
The Governor acknowledged the inputs shared by the delegation and stated support for measures that could help strengthen Manipur’s tourism environment and contribute to economic activity in the region.
On November 26, 2025, Gosain and Mehra also participated in the third Manipur Tourism Congress, organised by Manipur Tourism. Speaking on the panel on “Partnership for Progress”, Gosain noted the importance of cooperation between government departments, travel associations and private operators in advancing sustainable tourism. He said the Indian Association of Tour Operators is ready to support smaller and emerging destinations through its network to increase Manipur’s visibility among tour operators and travellers across global markets.
