The Indian Embassy in Iran has issued a travel advisory advising Indian nationals to refrain from undertaking non-essential travel to Iran.

The warning follows an escalation in regional hostilities over recent weeks, beginning with Israel's launch of 'Operation Rising Lion' on June 13, which targeted Iranian military and nuclear facilities. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks against Israeli targets, prompting the United States to retaliate with strikes on Iranian nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan on June 22.

The Indian Embassy in Iran issued a statement on X stating, "Indian nationals are advised to carefully consider the evolving situation before undertaking non-essential travel to Iran."

The conflict, which lasted twelve days, concluded on June 24, when Israel declared a unilateral ceasefire, with US President Donald Trump announcing the halt on behalf of Israel. The US has expressed concerns that Iran's uranium enrichment programme could lead to nuclear weapons development, although Tehran maintains its nuclear activities are solely for civilian purposes.

The advisory urges caution and advises monitoring regional developments and official updates. For those already in Iran wishing to leave, the embassy notes that commercial flight and ferry options remain available. The situation remains tense, with Iran having recently enacted legislation suspending cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), further complicating regional stability.
