Who’s Travelling to Kissimmee and What Inspires Their Trips

Indian travellers are showing a growing affinity for Central Florida, according to new research released by Experience Kissimmee. The study offers insights into who these visitors are, what inspires their travel, and why Kissimmee remains a key destination for India’s rapidly expanding outbound market.

The findings reveal that the average Indian visitor to the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford area in 2024 was between 35 and 39 years old, with 70 per cent travelling solo and 18.6 per cent visiting with family or friends. Middle-aged travellers with young children accounted for 32 per cent of the market, planning their trips approximately 89 days in advance and booking flights around 41 days before departure.

Shopping (82 per cent), sightseeing (93 per cent), and theme park visits (56 per cent) ranked as the top activities, while 23 per cent of visitors also included Miami in their Florida itinerary.

Digital platforms play a key role in shaping travel decisions. YouTube (95 per cent), Instagram (92 per cent), and Facebook (89 per cent) are the most used sources of inspiration, often through posts shared by friends and family.

On average, Indian travellers stayed in Kissimmee for 31 nights, spending about US$4,339 per person and US$5,838 per travel party. Accommodation represented 66.9 per cent of total expenditure, followed by food and beverage (12.5 per cent) and recreation (1.6 per cent).

When choosing where to stay, 85 per cent opted for hotels or motels for around six nights, while 8 per cent selected vacation homes, staying for approximately nine nights.

Other key findings include:

  • Sixty per cent rent a car during their stay, while 28 per cent take domestic flights within the United States.
  • Fifty-six per cent rely on airlines for vacation information, 49 per cent on personal recommendations, and 9 per cent on online travel agencies.
  • Florida ranks third among the most desired U.S. states among Indian travellers, with peak interest in January and May.
  • Indian visitors describe the United States as friendly, unique, energetic, welcoming, and relaxing.

The study also notes that the average household income of Indian travellers is US$49,387, with 52 per cent earning more than US$60,000 annually.

The research reinforces a clear trend: Indian travellers value experiences that balance recreation, comfort, and family connection. With its welcoming atmosphere, year-round sunshine, and proximity to world-famous attractions, Kissimmee continues to emerge as a preferred choice for Indian tourists seeking meaningful travel experiences.
