IndiGo celebrated its 19 years of operation, highlighting significant strides in its journey towards becoming a global carrier. The airline announced multiple strategic developments, including the acquisition of five additional Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft in this financial year via a damp-lease agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways, facilitating the launch of new international routes and strengthening its long-haul network.

New Direct Flights to London Heathrow

From October 26, 2025, subject to regulatory approvals, IndiGo will operate daily direct flights between India and London Heathrow using its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. These routes will be available for booking soon.

Enhanced Business Offering with IndiGoStretch

Starting August 9, 2025, IndiGo will introduce its premium product, IndiGoStretch, on select routes connecting Singapore to Delhi and Mumbai, operated with its two-class A321 aircraft. Additionally, IndiGoStretch will be available on flights between Delhi and Dubai from 30 August 2025, and Mumbai and Dubai from 3 September 2025.

Recognition as ‘Best Airline in India and South Asia’

At the 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards, IndiGo was honoured as the ‘Best Airline in India and South Asia’ and named the ‘Cleanest Airline in India & South Asia’. These accolades underscore its leadership and commitment to excellence in the region.

Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo, said, “As we celebrate IndiGo’s 19th anniversary, we are immensely proud of the journey we have had so far and equally excited about the way ahead. The love and support of millions of our customers, coupled with the shared passion and drive of more than 66,000 IndiGo employees, has fueled our flight towards new heights and across new frontiers. Today, we are delighted to announce our next strides in international markets, especially our daily, direct flights to London Heathrow. Looking ahead, we are hopeful to continue winning hearts and accolades in India as well as globally, as we expand our operations across the globe, one airport at a time.”

In just 19 years, IndiGo has become India’s largest and most preferred airline, operating a fleet of over 400 aircraft serving more than 90 domestic and 40 international destinations. The airline has recently launched long-haul services to Manchester and Amsterdam from Mumbai, and entered into partnerships with Delta Air Lines, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic to foster stronger international connectivity.

Expanding Fleet and Network

Aligned with its long-term growth plans, IndiGo announced that 30 of its optioned Airbus A350 aircraft will now be converted into firm orders, increasing its total wide-body fleet to 60 aircraft. The airline also plans to expand to Copenhagen, Athens, Siem Reap, and four additional Central Asian destinations in FY26.

Within India, new routes have been added to Adampur (Jalandhar, Punjab), Hindon (Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh), as well as the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, with over 18 daily departures to over 15 cities once fully operational. Furthermore, IndiGo signed an MoU with Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) to develop maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities to support its expanding fleet.

Modern Fleet and On-Time Performance

With an average aircraft age of just 4.9 years, IndiGo has been recognised as the ‘World’s Youngest Aircraft Fleet’ in the 100+ aircraft category, by ch-aviation. The airline also consistently tops DGCA reports for on-time performance, maintaining its record of excellence.
