The IPL 2025 season was felt not only in stadiums but also on highways, terminals, and train seats across the country. According to internal data from AbhiBus, a leading online bus ticketing platform, travel bookings to IPL host cities surged by 18 per cent between March 22 and June 4, 2025, compared to the period before the tournament (January 6 to March 21, 2025).
The biggest rise was seen in cities hosting major matches. Bengaluru saw a striking 29 per cent increase in bus bookings during the IPL season, followed by Chennai and Kolkata with 21 per cent each. Other cities also experienced notable growth, including Lucknow (16 per cent), Hyderabad (15 per cent), Mumbai (10 per cent), Chandigarh (nine per cent), Delhi ( eight per cent), and Ahmedabad and Jaipur (five per cent) each.
Speaking on the trends, Rohit Sharma, COO, AbhiBus, said, “This IPL season, it was heartening to see fans across India choosing buses to be part of the cricketing action. Given the surge in demand, we also rolled out our popular Super 40 and Super 60 promotions to make travel even more affordable. Nearly 60,000 users availed these offers during the season, proving that affordability can be a powerful catalyst for fandom on the move.”
