In May 2025, the Israel Ministry of Tourism (IMOT) hosted the 31st International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM) at EXPO Tel Aviv on May 7 and 8. This annual event is a key gathering within the Mediterranean region's tourism sector.
IMTM served as a platform for Israel to strengthen international tourism links and promote the country as a welcoming destination. The event welcomed 24 international tour operators from 11 countries, including the UK, USA, Italy, Germany, South Korea, Spain, France, Brazil, the Philippines, Russia, and India, along with journalists from notable travel publications around the world.
Indian representatives—Chandrasekar Krishnakumar of PickYourTrail, Manoj Das of Tern Voyages, and Vanessa Mehra of Aaryan Holidays, attended the event. They also participated in the IMTM Gala Evening at Knights’ Halls in Akko and engaged with local tourism stakeholders during networking sessions. The event provided opportunities for industry professionals to showcase destinations and discuss current trends through meetings and seminars.
Ministry of Tourism Director-General Dani Shahar said, “We aim to welcome 7 million tourists by 2030. To achieve this, we are building smart strategies, long-term partnerships, and immersive experiences that go beyond the usual. India is a vital market for us and we are delighted to see growing interest and trust from the Indian travel fraternity.”
Participants also explored Israel’s heritage sites in Jerusalem and the Dead Sea, along with contemporary attractions in Tel Aviv. From the historic charm of Akko to Tel Aviv’s vibrant café culture, the country made a strong impression. Several Indian representatives extended their stay to further discover Israel’s diverse offerings, highlighting its appeal and reputation as a safe destination.
As India’s outbound tourism market continues to grow rapidly, IMTM 2025 represented an important step in cultivating stronger connections and cultural exchange between the two nations. It also supported IMOT’s goal of increasing inbound tourism by building relationships with travel trade professionals and media.
