ITC Maratha Introduces Sustainable White Ivory Christmas Tree in Mumbai

Eco-Conscious Festive Installation at ITC Maratha

ITC Maratha in Mumbai unveiled a White Ivory Christmas Tree created with sustainable materials as part of its festive season celebrations. The hotel marked the occasion with a tree lighting ceremony attended by guests and members of the ITC team.

The installation has been designed as a contemporary interpretation of a White Christmas. Draped in ivory yarn, accented with pearls and gold threads, the tree reflects ITC Maratha’s approach to reducing carbon footprint while maintaining guest experiences through considered design.

The structure is inspired by the visual simplicity of a White Christmas and features soft spirals that represent a quiet celebration. Each strand of yarn used in the installation has been selected for its reusability. At the conclusion of the festive season, the yarn may be repurposed through macramé, crochet or embroidery. ITC Maratha noted that this approach supports circularity and encourages mindful consumption.

The sustainable installation aligns with the broader Responsible Luxury philosophy adopted across ITC Hotels. This approach has received international recognition. ITC Hotels was recently honoured at the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards 2025. The brand also became the first in India to receive the 2024 U.S. Green Building Council Leadership Award for Organisational Excellence. The recognition highlights ITC Hotels’ work in sustainability, wellness, community engagement and resilience.

ITC Maratha continues to hold LEED Zero Carbon and LEED Zero Water certifications. The hotel has stated that its commitment remains focused on setting benchmarks for sustainable hospitality and reinforcing that luxury can be rooted in responsibility.

With the unveiling of the White Ivory Christmas Tree, ITC Maratha has added a sustainable dimension to its festive programme, presenting a design that combines purposeful materials with circular practices.
