Jammu and Kashmir will host the two-day National Tourism Secretaries’ Conference, commencing today, which promises to boost the region’s profile as a premier travel destination.
Organised by the Union Ministry for Tourism, the event takes place at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar on July 7 and 8. It will serve as a platform for high-level discussions on collaborative policies and strategic planning within the tourism sector.
The conference will bring together tourism secretaries and senior officials from all states and Union Territories across India. Attendees include distinguished figures such as the Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, the Union Home Secretary, and the Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism.
Key topics on the agenda include budget allocations for tourism in 2025-26, destination development, infrastructure projects, promotional strategies, investment prospects, and film tourism initiatives. There will also be a dedicated session on Union Territories on July 8, featuring top officials and the Union Home Secretary.
In preparation, Yasha Mudgal, Commissioner Secretary for Tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, has overseen arrangements at SKICC. She was assisted by officials from Kashmir Tourism and SKICC, who detailed the logistical, hospitality, and security measures being implemented.
Commenting on the event, Mudgal stated, “This is a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir. Hosting national tourism leaders is both an privilege and a responsibility. We are dedicated to delivering excellent arrangements and seamless coordination.”
She also remarked that the conference is a valuable opportunity to “showcase Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism potential, recent developments, and alignment with national tourism goals.”
