The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced that several popular tourist destinations are set to reopen in a phased manner following recent closures due to security concerns.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha revealed that locations, which were closed after the April 22 Pahalgam attack, will gradually reopen to visitors.
“Some places were closed after April 22 (attack) in view of security considerations. The divisional commissioners and IGPs of Kashmir and Jammu have taken reports from every district, and it has been decided to reopen some destinations in a phased manner,” Sinha said.
Following a visit to the Nunwan Base Camp during the annual Amarnath Yatra in Pahalgam, Sinha shared that the first phase of openings will include Beetab Valley and parks near Pahalgam market, as well as Verinag, Kokernag, and Achabal gardens in Anantnag district.
In Srinagar, Badamwari Park, Duck Park near Nigeen Lake, and Taqdeer Park near Hazratbal are also among the sites reopening initially. Overall, eight locations in the Jammu and Kashmir region will welcome visitors as part of this phase.
He further added, ““Eight places are being reopened in the first phase. In the next phase, some other destinations will be re-opened."
Visitors can now look forward to exploring these scenic spots once more, with efforts underway to gradually restore tourism across the region
