Celebrate Chinese New Year With Culture, Wellness And Celebration

As travellers continue to explore new ways of commemorating cultural moments, Chinese New Year is increasingly celebrated as a period of reflection, renewal, and shared experience. Recognising this shift, JOALI Maldives presents a multi-day programme to mark the Year of the Fire Horse, inviting guests to engage with the season through cultural expression, wellness and creative exploration.

Guided by JOALI Maldives’ philosophy of “the joy of creative living,” the island becomes a vibrant setting throughout mid-February. A carefully designed programme offers a blend of tradition and contemporary interpretation, encouraging guests of all ages to reflect on new beginnings, prosperity, and meaningful connection.

Guests are invited to take part in activities that balance festive energy with mindful intention, creating a setting that is both celebratory and restorative. Culinary experiences form a central part of the programme through “Tastes of the East,” a Chinese New Year buffet dinner hosted along the shores of Vandhoo and Bellinis Beach. The evening combines regional flavours with a relaxed beachfront atmosphere, accompanied by live music.

Traditional dragon dance performances add a visual element to the festivities, enhancing the sense of occasion and cultural immersion. Wellbeing and movement also play a central role in welcoming the New Year. The Fire Horse Ignite HIIT Session, inspired by the bold and energetic spirit of the zodiac sign, offers a complimentary workout designed to energise both body and mind. At JOALI BEING Cure, guests can indulge in Oriental Qi: Rose Quartz Renewal, a 90-minute holistic treatment combining therapeutic massage with a Rose Quartz Facial Lift, designed to release tension, stimulate energy flow, and promote radiance throughout the festive month.

For younger guests, Muramas Kids Club hosts a full day of Chinese New Year festivities on February 17 filled with colour and imagination from a lively dance session and a ‘Lucky Trail Adventure’ scavenger hunt to dumpling-making workshops, lantern painting by the sea, kite flying, mocktail creation, and a cosy movie night, ensuring the celebration becomes a joyful memory for the entire family.
