Malaysia Airlines is redefining the travel experience for international visitors with the launch of its innovative Bonus Side Trip (BST) programme. Designed to enrich stopovers or extended stays, this unique offering allows passengers transiting through Kuala Lumpur to explore a second Malaysian destination, completely free of extra airfare.

Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer of Airlines, Malaysia Aviation Group said, “As the national carrier, Malaysia Airlines invites global travellers to experience more and uncover the vibrant beauty of Malaysia through a side trip to one of seven handpicked domestic destinations. The Bonus Side Trip reflects our commitment to championing Malaysia as a preferred destination in Asia. It goes beyond connectivity, curating experiences that extend our Malaysian Hospitality into every corner of the country.”

As part of the airline’s commitment to promoting Visit Malaysia Year 2026, the Bonus Side Trip is available to all international passengers flying with Malaysia Airlines. Travellers can choose a domestic return flight to one of seven culturally rich destinations including Langkawi, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuantan, Alor Setar, Kuala Terengganu, and Kota Bharu. Unlike standard stopover packages, BST is seamlessly built into the fare and booking process, turning every long-haul journey into a multi-city Malaysian experience.

This initiative not only enhances tourism accessibility but also drives inclusive growth by boosting local economies and introducing global travellers to the diverse beauty of Malaysia beyond its capital.

To showcase the programme, Malaysia Airlines recently hosted international Key Opinion Leaders from India, Australia, China, and other regions at the Trade Elevation Summit in Langkawi. Their itinerary included visits to UNESCO-listed Kilim Geoforest Park, the iconic Langkawi SkyCab, and immersive cultural experiences with local artisans—highlighting how BST delivers both authenticity and adventure.

By offering seamless domestic connectivity paired with its signature Malaysian Hospitality, Malaysia Airlines is encouraging travellers to discover more, making every trip to Malaysia not just a visit, but an experience to remember.
