Mizoram, once on the rail frontier, has now joined India’s railway network. The Prime Minister recently inaugurated the Bairabi–Sairang line, and soon after, the first Rajdhani Express linking Sairang (Mizoram) with Anand Vihar Terminal (Delhi) was launched. This historic milestone is being hailed as more than just an operational expansion; it symbolises Mizoram’s integration into India’s mainstream infrastructure. The Rajdhani’s debut has already sent a powerful message of demand, connectivity, and optimism for the future.

When the Sairang–Delhi Rajdhani began commercial operations on September 19, 2025 (Train No. 20507) and the return journey (20508) began on September 21, public reception exceeded expectations. Reports indicate the trains have averaged occupancy well over 155 per cent.

Demand has been robust in both directions, reflecting how eagerly this connectivity has been welcomed with Train 20507 (Sairang to Anand Vihar) recorded 162.5 per cent occupancy, and Train 20508 (Anand Vihar to Sairang) recorded 158.3 per cent occupancy.

The Route: 18 Major Stops from Sairang to Delhi

The new Rajdhani Express covers a long and varied route, stopping at 18 key stations between Sairang and Anand Vihar Terminal. Major halts include Bairabi, Hailakandi, Badarpur, New Haflong, Hojai, Guwahati, Rangiya, Barpeta Road, New Bongaigaon, New Cooch Behar, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Sahibganj, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, Patna, Pt DD Upadhyay Junction, and Kanpur Central.

This route links Mizoram through Assam, parts of North Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and finally Delhi, crossing diverse terrains. The 20507/20508 Rajdhani is listed on Indian Railways pages as an active service connecting Mizoram and Delhi, with full coach classes (1A, 2A, 3A) and standard Rajdhani amenities.
