Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma convened a meeting at his office on October 17, 2025, with representatives from IPE Global, the consultancy engaged to prepare the Thenzawl Peace City Master Plan. Also in attendance were Pu K Sapdanga, Minister for Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA), and senior government officials.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister stated that Thenzawl Peace City would be the first planned city in Mizoram, envisioned as a clean, well-organised, and aesthetically designed township that would promote tourism, attract visitors, and support balanced urban development. He emphasised the need for meticulous, high-quality planning, urging the project team to execute the work with commitment and excellence.
Pu Lalduhoma further directed that the State Project Monitoring Committee be actively involved in reviewing and overseeing the project’s progress to ensure timely implementation and adherence to quality standards.
Representatives from IPE Global outlined their approach and methodology for developing the Peace City, sharing their extensive experience in delivering similar urban planning projects within India and abroad. The project had previously attracted strong industry interest, with 18 reputed firms taking part in the pre‑bid stage, reflecting its scale and importance. Following the tender process, IPE Global was selected as the consulting partner.
With operations in over 100 countries and 20 offices across India, IPE Global brings vast expertise in preparing city master plans and implementing urban development initiatives nationwide. The firm is expected to open its Mizoram office within three weeks and commence work immediately.
The visiting team was led by Anil Bansal, Senior Development Expert, accompanied by other technical specialists. Senior government officials, including Pu Sudir Kumar, Principal Secretary (GAD), and Pu Lalmalsawma Pachuau, Secretary (UD&PA), were also present at the meeting.
The Thenzawl Peace City Master Plan represents a significant step in Mizoram’s pursuit of sustainable and well‑planned urban growth, aligning with the state government’s vision of creating vibrant, environmentally conscious, and visitor‑friendly cities.
