Nasi and Mee Expands Chennai Presence

Nasi and Mee opened its flagship restaurant at Phoenix Marketcity in Chennai, marking its third outlet in the city and completing ten years since the brand began in 2015. With this launch, the brand now operates nine restaurants across South India.

The Phoenix Marketcity restaurant features a design inspired by a modern Balinese villa. The interiors include exposed rafters, cane light fixtures and an open rectangular layout. The use of pivots and louvre columns adds structure, while a dimmer environment creates an evening-oriented setting.

A large mural form the central element of the space, depicting a moon-lit Balinese village. The artwork includes regional foliage and animals illustrated in imaginative scenes, such as a stork wearing an apron, a peacock with noodles, a water buffalo with a chef’s hat, and other species, including Sapi Bali, mynas, fish, and ducks. The illustration forms part of the design approach that links food, place and cultural references.

To mark the launch, Nasi and Mee is introducing a limited-time Korean menu called The Korean Edit, alongside its regular Southeast Asian selection that includes dishes from Singapore and Malaysia, as well as sushi and ramen. The Korean menu features items such as Jjin-Mandu, Gimbap with vegetarian and non-vegetarian fillings, Yangnyeon Chicken Wings, and Haemul Pajeon. Main-course options include N&M Korean-style Ramen and Bibimbap. The dessert on offer is Passion Fruit Panna Cotta.

“Our new flagship at Chennai is designed to bring diners closer to the craft behind their food. After seeing this format thrive in Bangalore, we’re excited to introduce Chennai to its first live sushi station — a space where flavour and experience come together. Launching at Phoenix Marketcity, one of the city’s most loved destinations, makes this milestone even more meaningful,” said Dilip Krishnan, Co-founder and CEO, India, Foodsta Kitchens, parent company of Nasi and Mee.

The restaurant has a capacity of sixty-two covers and aims to serve guests seeking Southeast Asian dishes as well as those interested in trying the Korean menu.

Nasi and Mee specialises in Southeast Asian cuisine, offering dishes inspired by the street-food traditions of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Japan. The brand operates under the Foodsta Kitchens banner, whose ethos centres on connecting people through food.
