SUNDAY Hotel, the luxury brand from OYO’s parent company Oravel, has opened India’s first Japanese-themed hotel, sprawling across 50,000 sq ft at M3M SkyLoft on New Golf Course Road Extension, Gurugram. Created to offer guests an authentic Japanese experience, the hotel boasts a traditional Ofuro bath for unwinding, alongside an exclusive 20-seater Japanese restaurant serving a curated selection of delicacies including sushi, udon, tofu, ramen, donburi, onigiri, and a Japanese Hammam.
This is the largest SUNDAY Hotel in India, featuring 217 rooms, developed as part of a memorandum of understanding with Oravel Stays and M3M to create luxury hospitality spaces across Gurugram and Noida. For Japanese guests wishing for extended stays, a dedicated 54-room wing has also been specially designed. The hotel’s Japanese-speaking staff guarantee seamless communication and personalised service, ensuring a truly immersive cultural experience.
SUNDAY Hotels, a premium brand of four- and five-star hotels, was launched in May 2023 through a joint venture between SoftBank Group and Oravel Stays.
Gurugram hosts one of India’s largest Japanese expatriate communities, making it a natural choice for introducing a Japanese-themed hospitality concept. The region also attracts many business travellers seeking sophisticated, comfortable, and culturally enriching accommodation. A Japanese-themed hotel perfectly aligns with the expectations of international visitors who value design, cleanliness, and efficient service.
Commenting on the development, Aditya Sharma, Country Head, SUNDAYHotels, said, "Several Japanese companies have already chosen this SUNDAYHotel as their preferred accommodation partner for visiting employees from Japan. This new themed hospitality centre is designed to cater specifically to their cultural preferences. We are collaborating with Japanese designers, incorporating traditional elements like tatami mats, minimalist interiors, and offering Japanese cuisine and hospitality practices, all within a modern Indian urban setting."
SUNDAY Hotel is also capitalising on the growing popularity of Japanese restaurants across metropolitan cities such as Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune. With increasing numbers of Indians travelling abroad and exploring international cuisines, there is a rising curiosity and appreciation for Japanese food, one of the most refined and distinctive culinary traditions.
