Prague takes centre stage in Dan Brown’s new novel, The Secret of Secrets. The bestselling author, renowned for weaving history with suspense, has chosen the Czech capital as the backdrop for his latest thriller, highlighting its Gothic landmarks, hidden courtyards and timeless aura of mystery.

In the story, symbologist Robert Langdon navigates Prague’s streets and secrets, with the city emerging not merely as a setting but as a character in its own right. The fast-paced plot threads through Charles Bridge, the Baroque Klementinum Library, Old Town’s winding alleys and tucked-away bars, casting Prague in an atmosphere of intrigue and discovery.

For travellers, this link between fiction and reality offers a new way to experience the city. Inspired by the novel, guided tours now trace the book’s locations—from centuries-old squares and ornate chapels to narrow passageways—unveiling Prague’s hidden layers where myth and history meet.

“Dan Brown’s novel shines a spotlight on Prague in a way that blends storytelling with travel,” said  Barbara Andelová, International Marketing Manager – New Markets, CzechTourism. “It offers readers  and visitors a chance to rediscover the city through mystery and imagination, adding a fresh dimension  to how Prague can be experienced.”

Beyond Prague, Brown’s narrative also explores other Czech treasures. Český Krumlov, with its riverside castle and storybook lanes, and Kutná Hora, famed for the Gothic grandeur of St Barbara’s Church and the haunting Sedlec Ossuary, both feature in the novel and hold UNESCO World Heritage status. Alongside these, many lesser-known corners of Czechia appear, underlining the country’s rich history and authentic cultural appeal.
