A Decade of Sustainable Culinary Excellence Meets Michelin-Starred Friendship

Phuket’s first and only Michelin-starred and Michelin Green Star-awarded restaurant, PRU, proudly marks its 9th anniversary, celebrating nearly a decade of sustainable fine dining. To commemorate the milestone, PRU will host an exclusive culinary collaboration with Bangkok’s one-Michelin-starred restaurant MIA on November 1, 2025, offering a series of special lunch and dinner experiences that unite craftsmanship, creativity, and friendship in equal measure.

This ninth anniversary signifies PRU’s remarkable journey since its inception, highlighting seven consecutive years of Michelin recognition, an extraordinary achievement in the highly competitive world of gastronomy. Through its unwavering commitment to sustainability and culinary innovation, PRU continues to define the standard for fine dining in Phuket and beyond.

Celebrating PRU’s 9th anniversary is a proud moment for us,” shares Chef Jimmy Ophorst. “Out of these nine years, PRU has held a Michelin star for seven, and when adding MIA’s two Michelin-starred years, it beautifully adds up to another nine. It’s a symbolic connection that makes this collaboration even more special.

Since being awarded its Michelin star in 2019, PRU has embodied the philosophy of ‘Dine Good, Do Good,’ crafting immersive experiences that go far beyond the plate. Its open-theatre kitchen remains a stage for innovation, where rare and “hard-to-harvest” Thai ingredients are reimagined into elegant, sustainable compositions that reflect both artistry and conscience.

The collaboration with MIA comes with a friendship that I personally have built with Chef Top over the years. Our kitchen is an extension of our home, and this event is about welcoming guests into it. Chef Top’s Phuket roots and our shared love for local sourcing make this collaboration feel like the perfect way to celebrate,” says Chef Jimmy.

Chef Top, recognised in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia list, and Chef Michelle, who honed her craft at renowned establishments such as Shangri-La Sydney and Pollen, bring their own artistry to this union. Together, they merge distinct culinary philosophies through a shared passion for sustainability and authenticity, crafting an experience that bridges Bangkok and Phuket through flavour and friendship.

Our cuisines and concepts are very different, but this collaboration showcases how we can connect food through friendship, even though we have very different cuisines,” Chef Jimmy added.

The event, to be held on November 1, 2025, promises to be an unforgettable celebration of two Michelin-starred kitchens, a meeting of minds and menus that reaffirms PRU’s place at the forefront of Asia’s sustainable fine dining scene.
