Nearly 120 widebody aircraft now offer Starlink gate-to-gate connectivity

Qatar Airways has achieved two global aviation milestones by becoming the first airline to install Starlink connectivity on Boeing 787-8 aircraft and completing the world’s first Airbus A350 Starlink installation programme.

The airline now operates three Boeing 787 Dreamliners equipped with Starlink, taking the total number of Starlink-enabled widebody aircraft in its fleet to nearly 120. These installations span Airbus A350s, Boeing 777s and Boeing 787s, representing more than 58 per cent of Qatar Airways’ widebody fleet.

The Starlink rollout across the Airbus A350 fleet was completed within eight months, marking the first such programme globally. Within 14 months, Qatar Airways began and completed Starlink installations across its Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 fleets, then extended the technology to its Dreamliners. The airline is also the first in the world to secure Starlink certification for the Boeing 787-8.

Since the service's introduction in October 2024, more than 11 million passengers have used complimentary Starlink gate-to-gate Wi-Fi on board Qatar Airways aircraft. In 2025, airlines worldwide connected over 21 million passengers through Starlink, with nearly half travelling on Qatar Airways services.

The in-flight connectivity offers internet speeds of up to 500 Mbps, supporting activities such as streaming, video conferencing and real-time online work throughout the flight. The service is being progressively rolled out across routes spanning the Americas, Australia, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, supporting both long-haul and ultra-long-haul operations.

With the expansion of Starlink across its widebody fleet, Qatar Airways continues to strengthen its in-flight connectivity offering, providing passengers and crew with consistent digital access across its global network.
