Rajasthan Tourism Plans Five-Day Cultural and Nature Festival
The Rajasthan Tourism Department will organise Sambhar Mahotsav 2025 from December 27 to 31, 2025, in the town of Sambhar near Jaipur. The five-day event aims to present Rajasthan’s folk culture, artistic traditions and natural landscapes to domestic and international visitors.
The festival follows the response received during the Sambhar festival held in January 2024, which recorded participation from visitors across Delhi, Chandigarh, Gurugram, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai, along with international tourists. Based on this outcome, the Tourism Department has planned a larger edition this year.
According to Deputy Director, Tourism, Upendra Singh Shekhawat, the festival is being developed in line with the vision of Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, with a focus on presenting Rajasthan’s folk traditions, arts and natural settings to a wider audience. Shekhawat stated that efforts are underway to position Sambhar Mahotsav among established international tourism events in the coming years.
Shekhawat further noted that Sambhar Salt Lake has seen increasing interest beyond its historical and religious importance and is emerging as a destination for photography, pre-wedding shoots and astro-tourism. Festival activity zones will include Jhapok, Sambhar Salt Campus, Devyani Teerth Sarovar and the main fairground area.
The programme will include art and craft stalls, local handicraft displays and photography exhibitions. Adventure and outdoor activities planned include paramotoring, parasailing, ATV rides and adventure bike rides. Kite flying activities are also scheduled during the festival period.
Nature-focused experiences such as bird-watching tours, Salt Lake excursions and guided tours of salt production facilities have been planned. Cultural and spiritual programmes will include Deepotsav, Maha Aarti and illumination of religious sites.
Additional activities include folk street performances, heritage walks, cycling tours, camel and horse rides, celebrity evenings and a dedicated children’s zone.
According to the Tourism Department, Sambhar Mahotsav 2025 is expected to support local economic activity and contribute to Rajasthan’s experience-led tourism offerings.
