Toronto is preparing for a star-studded September as the city celebrates the 50th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Just steps from the TIFF Lightbox, Shangri-La Toronto is putting itself at the heart of the action with a month of cinematic experiences designed for both film buffs and hotel guests.
The hotel will play host to the official pre-opening cocktail party on 4 September before rolling out a series of film-inspired indulgences. Among the highlights is the limited-edition TIFF 50 Afternoon Tea running from 4 to 28 September. Served in the hotel’s lively Lobby Lounge with live music, the menu takes inspiration from iconic films across five decades. Think Emperor’s Devilled Egg honouring The Last Emperor and a colourful saffron mousse paying tribute to Slumdog Millionaire.
Festival-goers can also sip their way through cinema history with TIFF 50 Signature Cocktails, available all month. Each drink pays homage to a film that has defined the festival’s legacy, from a sparkling concoction inspired by The Princess Bride to a smoky tequila mix nodding to Lady Macbeth.
For those wanting a quieter retreat, the hotel is introducing Soak in Cinema, a collection of bath rituals crafted with luxury brand Bathorium. Guests can choose a themed soak, from rose-petal romance inspired by American Beauty to the dreamlike floral notes of The Shape of Water.
With rooms offering sweeping city views and in-room touches inspired by the silver screen, Shangri-La Toronto is giving visitors a front-row seat to TIFF’s golden anniversary.
