Special Trains Launched via Kottayam to Ease Onam Travel as Tickets Sell Out Fast

Tickets for regular trains around September 2, 3, and 4 were sold out within hours of booking opening, highlighting the heightened demand during the festive period

In response to the overwhelming demand during the Onam festival, special trains will be operated via Kottayam, covering the Salem-Erode-Palakkad route.

The Chennai Central–Kollam train (06119) will depart from Chennai Central at 3.10 pm on August 27, September 3, and September 10, arriving in Kollam at 6.20 am the following day. The return service, Kollam–Chennai Central (06120), will leave Kollam at 10.45 am on August 28, September 4, and September 11, arriving in Chennai at 3.30 am the next day.

Another special service, the Chennai Central–Kottayam train (06111), will depart Chennai at 11.20 pm on 26 August, 2 September, and 9 September, arriving in Kottayam at 1.30 pm the following day. The return train, Kottayam–Chennai Central (06112), will leave Kottayam at 6.00 pm on August 27, September 3, and September 10, reaching Chennai at 11.35 am the next day.
