Sri Lanka has wrapped up a series of successful roadshow events in Lucknow, Chandigarh, and Jaipur, boosting tourism and strengthening ties with India. The island destination is experiencing an unprecedented surge in visitors, firmly maintaining India as its top source market.

In the first half of 2025, Sri Lanka's tourism industry generated over $1.54 billion. From January to May, a total of 1,029,803 tourists arrived, including 204,060 from India, representing 20 per cent of all visitors. With direct, seamless connections via SriLankan Airlines, Indigo, and Air India operating daily flights from nine Indian cities, travel remains straightforward and convenient.

To promote Sri Lanka as a year-round destination, the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) hosted a series of B2B roadshows and networking events in Lucknow, Chandigarh, and Jaipur during June 2025. These gatherings highlighted the country’s diverse tourism attractions and aimed to foster stronger collaborations with Indian travel stakeholders, particularly from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Rajasthan.

Led by Minister Vijitha Herath and Deputy Minister Prof Ruwan Ranasinghe, the Sri Lankan delegation included over 35 key industry players, from hotels and resorts to tour operators and destination management companies. Bringing together more than 200 representatives—industry leaders, travel agents, and media—these events aimed to deepen relations and unlock new opportunities for mutual growth.

A vibrant cultural dance troupe showcased Sri Lanka’s rich heritage, adding a colourful and immersive element to the proceedings. Attendees experienced the island's stunning landscapes, ancient temples, vibrant culture, and world-class hospitality, inviting travellers to return time and again.

Sri Lanka’s ongoing promotional efforts demonstrate its commitment to cementing its position as the preferred destination for Indian visitors, offering unforgettable experiences across its scenic beaches, historic sites, and bustling cultural spots.
